Ethan Wood
Lawyer
Ethan Wood is a family lawyer at Kidston Helm Ross, dedicated to helping clients navigate the legal complexities of separation, parenting arrangements, and family disputes. His practice focuses on achieving fair, efficient resolutions, whether through negotiation, mediation, or litigation when necessary.
A proud Indigenous person, Ethan brings a disciplined, goal-oriented approach to his practice—an ethic honed through years of competitive hockey and academic excellence. He earned an NCAA scholarship and completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Wisconsin-Superior in just three years while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. He was a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team honoree and was selected as a Model United Nations Delegate on behalf of his university.
Ethan went on to earn his Juris Doctor at the University of Alberta, where he balanced his legal studies with a passion for mentoring young athletes. As a goaltender coach, he worked with Team Canada and Team Alberta, evaluating elite goaltending prospects and coaching in multiple minor hockey organizations. He also served as the goaltender coach for the Whitecourt Wolverines in the Alberta Junior ‘A’ Hockey League, where his goaltender earned the team’s Most Valuable Player award and was nominated for AJHL Goaltender of the Year.
Ethan is an active member of the Vernon community, serving as a Board Member for the Arts Council of the North Okanagan and as President of the Lumby LumberJacks Senior ‘AA’ Men’s Ice Hockey Non-Profit.
When he’s not supporting his clients, Ethan can be found skiing at SilverStar and Big White, coaching young goaltenders, or golfing—though he admits that no sand trap or water hazard is unfamiliar to him. His commitment to both his profession and community makes him a trusted advocate for families in transition.
