Max Russmann is a litigation lawyer with Kidston Helm Ross, known for his pragmatic approach and strong advocacy. His work focuses on personal injury claims, insurance disputes, real estate and land disputes, and creditor’s remedies. Fluent in German, Max has represented Canadian and international clients at all levels of court in British Columbia.

Raised on a cattle ranch in the North Okanagan, Max developed the ability to make practical, informed, and effective decisions—a skillset he brings to his legal practice. With a straightforward and results-driven approach, Max helps his clients navigate complex legal matters with confidence.

Max earned his Bachelor of Science in Genetics and Cell Biology from the University of British Columbia, with a minor in English Literature. He then worked in biopharmaceutical research on Alzheimer’s disease treatments before pursuing his law degree at UBC’s Peter Allard School of Law, graduating in 2005. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2006 and has practiced law full-time ever since. His background in science, business, and law allows him to analyze cases with a unique perspective and provide clear, strategic advice.

Max is deeply involved in the Vernon community, having served as President of the Vernon Science and Discovery Society (Okanagan Science Centre) and O’Keefe Ranch and Interior Heritage Society, as well as Vice-President of the District Parent Advisory Council – School District 22. He has also contributed as a Director of the North Okanagan Parks and Natural Areas Trust and Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Bridge Educational Society. In 2016, he was recognized as one of Vernon’s “Top 20 Under 40” most effective and talented business professionals.

Outside of work, Max is passionate about embracing everything the Okanagan offers. He enjoys hiking, camping, stand-up paddleboarding, and mountain biking with his wife and two boys. In the winter, he can often be found deep in the forest with a chainsaw hand cutting firewood or exploring new trails on snowshoes. His love for the outdoors and strong community ties make him a dedicated advocate both in and outside of the courtroom.

"I have had Max Russman represent me as a lawyer for almost a decade, I highly recommend him and the Kidson team to help you with any of your legal needs! Super compassionate, organized and committed team to be on your side."
