At Kidston Helm Ross Lawyers, we are honored to support youth leadership and community involvement through our sponsorship of the Vernon Junior Good Citizen of the Year Award, presented by the North Okanagan Optimist Club. 2024 is the inaugural year of this award.

For 2024, we proudly recognize 14-year-old Alexander Mulder, a Grade 9 student at W.L. Seaton Secondary, for his exceptional dedication to public service and volunteerism.

A Commitment to Community from an Early Age

On January 19, 2024, Alexander was surprised in his classroom with the award, acknowledging his years of involvement in fundraising, volunteerism, and civic engagement. He was nominated by city councillor and family friend Teresa Durning, who highlighted his long-standing commitment to giving back.

His contributions include:

Fundraising for Coldest Night of the Year – Supporting individuals facing homelessness through an annual charity walk.

Club Leadership at Seaton Secondary – Actively participating in school initiatives that promote community involvement.

Political Engagement – Volunteering on local campaigns to support civic leadership.

Church & Junior Rotary – Lending his time and energy to local organizations that focus on service and mentorship.

Community Fire Watch – Assisting in fire safety efforts in Vernon.

Giving Back Through the Award

As part of his recognition, Kidston Helm Ross Lawyers awarded Alexander with a $300 charitable donation, which he chose to direct to Upper Room Mission, a local organization providing food, support, and resources to individuals in need.

This donation reflects Alex’s continued dedication to making a difference, not just through his own efforts but by supporting causes that uplift the broader community.

Recognizing the Next Generation of Leaders

The Junior Good Citizen Award is an initiative of the North Okanagan Optimist Club, which aims to empower and recognize youth who are actively shaping a better future for Vernon.

At Kidston Helm Ross, we are proud to support this initiative and highlight young leaders like Alexander, whose dedication to helping others, strengthening the community, and leading by example makes Vernon a better place.

Congratulations, Alexander!

Your passion for service, leadership, and giving back is an inspiration to us all. We look forward to seeing the continued impact you will make in our community.
